Spinal Decompression Program
We are pleased to announce that Mountaincrest Rehab can make available the DRX9000 System and the Integrated Spine Rehab Program to our patients. Using the Integrated Spine Rehabilitation, our treatment includes the use of the DRX9000 System as an adjunct therapy to the clinically tested and proven lumbar stabilization protocol and aquatic rehab.
The DRX9000 is a state-of-the-art system that has shown the potential for significantly reducing or eliminating certain types of back pain caused by herniated, bulging, ruptured or degenerative discs. Using a three-stage process, the Integrated Spine Rehab Program at Mountaincrest Rehab helps relieve back pain, promote stability, increase strength and improve function. In Stage One, patients are assessed thoroughly to ensure that treatment plans are case-specific. Treatment plans may include aquatic therapy, lumbar stabilization, spinal rejuvenation and decompression, through the use of the Spinal Rejuvenation Table (SRT) and/or the DRX9000 System. In Stage Two, patients begin their case-specific treatment plan. At the initial stage, the goal is to reduce pain - depending on the severity of pain - some patients may start with aquatic therapy, myofascial release, modalities, SRT and/or the DRX9000 where segments of the spine are mobilized. When patients' pain level allows them to tolerate land-based exercises, lumbar stabilization exercises are introduced to strengthen surrounding muscles that provide support and aid in the re-alignment of the spine. As the patients improve, they will be educated on proper posture, body mechanics and provided with home exercise programs to help maintain recovery and prevent future back injuries. In Stage Three, the patients are re-assessed and/or prepared for discharge. They will be assessed on level of pain and other objective measures as well as subjective measures like tolerance to work and leisure activities. Clinical experience and anecdotal evidence show that majority of patients, after four to six weeks in the Integrated Spine Rehab Program at Mountaincrest Rehab experienced significant improvement in pain level, stability, strength and function. |
